Mother, daughter sue over injuries from Port Arthur crash

A woman claims she and her minor daughter sustained injuries after a driver collided with them at a Port Arthur intersection.

Diana Esquivel filed a lawsuit April 5 in Jefferson County District Court against Neli Rayo, also known as Neli Tores.

Esquivel claims she and her child, Melony, sustained injuries after Rayo collided with their vehicle at the intersection of 12th Avenue and Seventh Street in Port Arthur on Sept. 9.

In addition to their injuries, Esquivel and her child incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain and mental anguish because of the accident, according to the complaint.

Esquivel seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
