Parent sues neighbors for minor's fire burn

A Vidor man is suing his neighbors for not supervising his minor child, who was burned by a fire while at their home.

Acting as next of friend, Khriss Holbrook filed the suit against Clifton Weber and Helen Jeffers on April 15 in Orange County District Court.

According to the suit, on Jan. 2 the minor child was "seriously burned" while on the defendants' Vidor property.

The suit does not say how the child was burned or where Holbrook was when the incident occurred.

The suit only accuses the defendants of failing to provide adult supervision, provide a safe environment and of violating a burn ban.

Holbrook is suing the child's past and future medical expenses and mental anguish.

He is represented by attorney Jon Burmeister of the Moore Landrey law firm.

Judge Pat Clark of the 128th Judicial District has been assigned to the case.
