Citibank files suit against PA man over credit card

A bank claims a Port Arthur man ceased making required monthly payments on his credit card bill.

Citibank filed a lawsuit April 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Ahmed A. Fayyaz.

Citibank claims it advanced money to Fayyaz on his credit card, but since then, Fayyaz has stopped making payments.

Despite demands that Fayyaz repay the money, Citibank still has received no payments, according to the complaint.

"As of March 25, 2010, there continues to be owed by Defendant to the Plaintiff an unpaid principal balance of $15,135.99," the suit states.

In addition to the money it says Fayyaz owes it, Citibank seeks pre-judgment interest, attorney's fees of at least $4,086.72, costs, post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law and other relief to which it may be entitled.

Michael J. Scott, Teri Stewart Mace and Judith Morgan of Carrollton will be representing it.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donal Floyd, 172nd District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: E186-670.
