Fall at Golden Corral leads to lawsuit

A Port Arthur man claims he sustained severe injuries after slipping on liquid at a Beaumont restaurant.

Bonnie Palmer filed a lawsuit May 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Golden Corral Corp.

Palmer claims he visited the Golden Corral located at 2190 Interstate 10 in Beaumont on June 6, 2008, when he slipped on a wet area of the floor.
The fall resulted in injuries to his head, neck, back, right leg and right ankle.
Employees placed no warning signs in the area to warn Palmer of the slippery conditions, according to the complaint.

In addition to his injuries, Palmer incurred medical costs; lost earnings and his earning capacity; and suffered physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish, the suit states.

He blames Golden Corral for failing to keep its premises in a safe condition, for failing to inspect the premises to discover a latent defect, for failing to make any defects safe and for failing to warn of a hazardous condition.

In his complaint, Palmer seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which he may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan and Timothy Sawyer of the Law Office of Jonathan C. Juhan in Beaumont will be representing him.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: D186-783.
