Improper lane change leads to suit

Orange resident Larry Polk has filed suit against Lake City Trucking and its employee, Kelvin Levi, who allegedly hit his vehicle while changing lanes.

The suit was filed May 17 in Orange County District Court.

Court documents show that on June 3, 2008, Polk was traveling west on Interstate 10 in Vidor when Levi "unsafely changed lanes" and struck his vehicle.

Levi was in the course and scope of his employment with Lake City at the time of the incident.

In his suit, Polk says Levi failed to keep a proper lookout and Lake City was negligent in its hiring and training of him.

He is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses and lost wages, plus all court costs.

The plaintiff is represented by attorney David LaRue of Loncar & Associates.

The case has been assigned to Judge Buddy Hahn, 260th Judicial District.
