H-J ISD sues company over unpaid property taxes

The Hardin-Jefferson Independent School District has filed suit against a company it says has deprived it of money after allegedly failing to pay taxes.

The school district claims defendant Crosstex Treating Services is deliquent in its taxes and owes statutory penalties and interest on top of them.

The unpaid taxes are to be divided among the school district and other related political entities, according to the complaint filed May 19 in Jefferson County District Court.

The H-J ISD is seeking a foreclosure of the tax lien against the property and a personal judgment, plus statutory penalties, interest, attorney's fees, costs and subsequent year taxes and expenses that will become due.

It will be represented by Shelburne J. Veselka of McCreary, Veselka, Bragg and Allen in Round Rock.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Jefferson County District Court case number: B186-906.
