An insurance company has filed suit against the driver who struck one of its client's vehicles, causing the insurance company to pay more than $4,000 for vehicular damages.
State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company claims it had to pay its insured, Catherine Granger, $4,016.24 after her vehicle sustained property damages in an Aug. 26, 2008, collision.
According to the complaint filed June 16 in Jefferson County District Court, Granger and defendants Luke J. Miller were driving in the area of the 2500 block of Procter Street and the 300 block of DeQueen Boulevard in Port Arthur when Miller failed to maintain a proper lookout, causing the collision.
At the time of the collision, Miller was driving a vehicle defendant Sandra L. Franks had lent to him, the suit states. State Farm names Franks as a defendant, saying she should never have lent her vehicle to an incompetent and uninsured driver, the complaint says.
In addition to the money it says it paid to Granger, State Farm is seeking pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
