Passenger sues over auto collision

Nearly two years ago, Michelle Singletary was a passenger in a vehicle traveling on Highway 12 in Vidor when Daniel Burgess allegedly failed to yield the right of way and caused an automobile collision.

She filed suit against him July 7 in Orange County District Court.

According to the suit, on Aug. 27, 2008, Singletary was a passenger in a van traveling westbound on Hwy 12 in Vidor when Burgess, who was traveling north on Tram Road, failed to yield an collided with her vehicle.

The suit also accuses him of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

Singletary is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and lost wages, plus all court costs.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney David LaRue of Loncar & Associates.

The case has been assigned to Judge Buddy Hahn, 260th Judicial District.
