Woman is sued for failing to stop at stop sign

A Nederland resident has been sued for allegedly failing to stop at a stop sign and crashing into another vehicle that had the right of way.

Roy Arline filed suit against Delores Doucet on July 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

The accident occurred on Aug. 24, 2008, when Arline had stopped at the stop sign on Lavaca Street. He was proceeding through the intersection when the defendant entered the intersection without stopping at the stop sign and slammed into Arline's vehicle.

The defendant is accused of negligence for failing to keep lookout, failing to timely apply the brakes, failing to stop, yield and grant immediate use of the intersection to a vehicle in violation of the Texas Transportation Code and failing to yield the right of way after stopping at a stop sign.

Arline states that the accident has caused him to suffer from headaches and blurred vision.

The plaintiff is seeking damages for medical expenses, loss of earnings and earning capacity, physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish, disfigurement, interest and court costs.

Arline is represented by Beaumont attorney Jonathan C. Juhan.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, is assigned to the case.
