Sexual abuse suit filed against Golden Triangle Living Centers

The sister of a mentally disabled man has filed suit against the owner of Golden Triangle Living Centers, alleging her brother was repeatedly assaulted while under the facility's care.

On behalf of Douglas Edwards, Jamie Murray filed the suit against Central Control on Aug. 4 in Jefferson County District Court.

Needing special care, Edwards was a resident at GTLC, where "on numerous occasions" he was allegedly "sexually assaulted by" other residents, court papers say.

The suit fails to state when or how the alleged assaults occurred.

"Defendants failed to take any action to prevent assaults or sexual abuse of Edwards, both before and after he first reported the sexual abuse," the suit states.

Murray is suing for her brother's past and future mental anguish and medical expenses.

She is also seeking exemplary damages.

The plaintiffs are represented by Beaumont attorney Keith Kebodeaux.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
