Flying J blamed for trucker's collision

Laura Floyd has filed suit against Port Arthur resident Willie Martinez and his employer, Flying J, alleging Martinez caused an automobile collision two years ago.

The suit was filed July 28 in Orange County District Court.

According to the suit, on Aug. 30, 2008, Martinez, who was employed by Flying J at the time, made an illegal turn and slammed into Floyd's vehicle.

The suit does not state where the incident occurred.

Floyd accuses Martinez of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.

The suit also accuses Flying J of negligently hiring and training him.

Floyd is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and lost wages, plus all court costs.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan.

The case has been assigned to Judge Buddy Hahn, 260th Judicial District.
