Shaw Pipeline Services sued over employee's auto wreck

Alleging he was hit when a truck driver ran a red light, Earl Burton has filed suit against Shaw Pipeline Services and one of its truck drivers, Bradley McGuire.

The suit was filed July 26 in Orange County District Court.

According to the petition, on Aug. 25, 2008, Burton was traveling on MacArthur Drive and in the process of making a left turn on a green-light arrow, when McGuire allegedly ran a red light and slammed into him.

The suit accuses McGuire of negligently running a red light and of failing to keep a proper lookout.

The suit also accuses Shaw Pipeline of negligently hiring and training him.

Burton is suing for past and future medical expenses, mental anguish and lost wages, plus all court costs.

He is represented by Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan.

The case has been assigned to Judge Dennis Powell, 163rd Judicial District.
