A contractor has filed suit against two development corporations, alleging they failed to pay it more than $4,000 for labor and materials it supplied.
Century Trucking claims it and defendant Reeves Development entered into a contract for improvements in the McFaddin Heights Addition in Beaumont.
After Century completed the work in June, Reeves and Watusi Properties, which owns the property, owed it $4,815, according to the complaint filed Aug. 18 in Jefferson County District Court.
Although Century has demanded payment of the money, the defendants have refused to reimburse it, the suit states.
In addition to the money it says it is owed, Century is seeking a foreclosure on its lien on Watusi's property, an order of sale and writ of possession, $5,000 in attorney's fees, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Mel W. Shelander of Beaumont will be representing it.
The case has been assigned to Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court.
