A Beaumont woman has filed suit against the estate of the deceased man who she clams struck her as she was walking through Wal-Mart's parking lot.
Jacqueline LaSalle claims she was a pedestrian in the Wal-Mart parking lot at 4155 Dowlen in Beaumont on July 3, 2008, when the deceased John Edward Haught struck her in his Chevrolet pickup truck.
Because of the incident, LaSalle incurred medical costs of $14,66.95 and suffered pain, according to the complaint filed Sept. 20 in Jefferson County District Court.
Haught negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, drove too fast, failed to timely apply his brakes, failed to take proper evasive measures, drove inattentively, failed to exercise due care to avoid a collision and failed to exercise proper precautions, the suit states.
In her complaint, LaSalle is seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.
She will be represented by Rick Lee Wingler of Rolle, Breeland, Ryan, Landau, Wingler and Hindman in Dallas.
The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.
