Jones Act suit alleges injury caused by Hercules Offshore negligence

A female offshore worker has filed a Jones Act suit against the Hercules Offshore Drilling Co. for injuries she suffered last month.

Ora Lynette Phillips filed her suit Sept. 30 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to her suit, Phillips was injured Sept. 8 while assigned to the vessel M/V Hercules 205 when she was injured in the course and scope of her employment.

The suit does not state how or where she was injured, nor does the suit describe her injuries.

The suit only alleges Hercules Offshore negligently failed to provide her with a safe workplace and the vessel she served on was not seaworthy.

Phillips is suing for past and future mental anguish, pain, lost wages and medical expenses, plus all court costs.

She is represented by Houston attorney John Stevenson Jr. of Stevenson & Murray.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
