Claiming he injured himself while fixing a broken sewer system, Courtland Martin has filed suit against his landlord, Duong Trang.
The suit was filed Oct. 15 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the petition, on Nov. 15, 2008, Martin suffered injuries at his residence as he attempted to repair a broken sewer system.
"Plaintiff made multiple phone calls to landlord Trang reporting the failed system," the suit states. "Such calls were ignored, resulting in plaintiff's necessity in taking matters into his own hands."
Martin is suing for past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, los of earning capacity and pain.
He is represented by Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
