Red-light runner blamed for crash on Washington Blvd.

A Texas woman blames a driver for causing her to sustain physical impairment and disfigurement after the driver ran a red light and collided with her vehicle.

Florica Adascalitei filed a lawsuit Nov. 4 in Jefferson County District Court against Chad Berry.

Adascalitei claims she drove west on Washington Boulevard in Beaumont on Sept. 17 when Barry ran a red light and crashed into her.

In addition to the physical impairment and disfigurement Adascalitei sustained during the collision, she suffered mental and physical pain and anguish, experienced a decreased capacity to earn a livelihood and incurred medical costs, according to her complaint.

She blames Berry for causing the collision, saying he negligently disobeyed the laws of Texas, failed to maintain a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way, failed to timely apply his brakes to avoid a collision and failed to warn her of the collision.

In her complaint, Adascalitei seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jerry Easley and Bristol Baxley of Rome, Arata and Baxley in Pearland will be representing him.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
