A lawsuit alleging the Beaumont Independent School District somehow injured a child during the 2009 through 2011 school years was filed Nov. 15 in Jefferson County District Court.
The plaintiff in the suit, identified as I.W., is suing behalf of a minor, identified as C.G.
The two page suit does not state how the child was injured, the age of the child, what grade the child was in, what school the child attended or how BISD is responsible for his or her alleged injuries.
The suit does allege, however, that BISD violated the minor's civil rights; was negligent by violating the Disabilities in Education Act; and failed to provide him or her with a free and appropriate public education.
Because of the unstated incidents, the minor sustained mental anguish and personal injuries, for which the plaintiff now sues.
The plaintiff is represented by Houston attorney Michael O'Dell.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
