Attorney Jason Byrd sues partner

Beaumont attorney Jason Byrd had filed suit against his partner, Wyatt Snider, indicating that the Beaumont law firm Snider & Byrd may soon dissolve.

The suit was filed Nov. 24 in Jefferson County District Court.

Over the past four years, the Snider & Byrd law firm has filed hundreds of suits in Jefferson County, most of which center around insurance companies and their alleged refusal to pay for damages inflicted by Hurricanes Ike and Rita.

In his petition, Byrd says he "seeks a declaration that events and circumstances have unreasonably frustrated the economic purpose of the partnership, and that it is not reasonably practicable for the partners to carry on business with each other."

The suit does no describe the "events and circumstances" which prompted Byrd to file the lawsuit.

Byrd insists that his petition is "not a withdrawal or event of withdrawal from the partnership or a dissolution" but rather a request of declaration from the court.

Byrd is represented by the Law Office of Keith Kebodeaux.

The case has been assigned to Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court.
