Alleging his ex-wife's lover chased him down and ran him over with a 2005 Nissan Maxima, Brandon Ferro has filed suit against Bridge City resident Sterling Simoneaux.

The suit was filed Dec. 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the plaintiff's petition, on Nov. 24 Ferro was at his home in Orange when his ex-wife and Simoneaux came by to get an insurance card for the Ferros' minor child.

The suit does not name Ferro's ex-wife.

According to Ferro, a volatile verbal exchange broke out between the three, and Ferro's ex began to physically assault him. Simoneaux then jumped in the woman's car and attempted to run over Ferro, the lawsuit alleges.

"Plaintiff sought to get away from the oncoming car by retreating into the front yard of his residence," the suit states. "Simoneaux pursued plaintiff with the car trespassing onto his property ... and striking him, knocking him down and then running over his leg."

In his suit, Ferro states he suspected that Simoneaux and his ex-wife had an affair during their marriage.

Ferro accuses Simoneaux of acting with negligence and malice and is suing him for his alleged past and future mental anguish, impairment, medical expenses and pain.

The plaintiff is represented by Beaumont attorney Keith Kebodeaux.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
