Worker falls off ladder, sues homeowner

A man claiming he was given a defective ladder has filed suit against the homeowner who gave it to him.

Miguel Diaz filed suit against Julia Aleuterio and NIETO on Jan. 11 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the petition, on June 14 Diaz was using a ladder provided by the defendants to do some work on their home. Allegedly, the ladder somehow failed causing Diaz and the ladder to fall to the ground.

The suit alleges the defendants controlled the work area and owned the faulty equipment, making them responsible for his safety.

Diaz is suing for his alleged past and future mental anguish, medical expenses, impairment and lost wages.

He is represented by attorney Jeffrey Roebuck of the Beaumont law firm Roebuck, Thomas, Roebuck & Adams.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
