Woman sues over wreck in Port Neches

A Beaumont woman claims she suffers from headaches as well as neck, low back, chest, knee, head and wrist pain after a driver collided with her.

Opal Tillman filed a lawsuit Dec. 21 in Jefferson County District Court against Lori Herrmann.

Tillman claims she drove on Magnolia Avenue in Port Neches on Jan. 9, 2009, when Herrmann, who drove in the opposite direction on the same road, failed to yield the right-of-way when turning and slammed into her.

In addition to her injuries, Tillman incurred medical costs, lost earnings and her earning capacity and suffered physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement because of the collision. She also sustained property damages, according to the complaint.

Tillman blames Herrmann for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes and failed to yield the right-of-way to a vehicle.

In her complaint, Tillman seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief to which she may be entitled.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
