Woman files suit against driver who rear-ended vehicle

A woman has filed suit against the driver who she claims rear-ended her vehicle.

Erica Flores claims she was driving on Fourth Street in Beaumont on March 11, 2009, when defendant Edrei Garcia, who was driving a vehicle owned by defendant Priscilliano Garcia Gallegos, failed to control her speed and slammed into the rear of Flores' vehicle.

Because of the collision, Flores incurred medical costs; lost her earnings and her earning capacity; and suffered physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement, according to the complaint filed Feb. 17 in Jefferson County District Court.

Garcia negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes and failed to control her speed, the suit states.

In her complaint, Flores is seeking an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jonathan C. Juhan of Beaumont will be representing her.

The case has been assigned to Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court.
