Woman who fell at Sam's Club wants surveillance video of incident

Area resident Patricia Morrison has filed a petition to discover evidence against Sam's Wholesale Club, seeking to obtain surveillance video coverage of her falling and breaking her hip.

The petition was filed March 4 in Jefferson County District Court.

In her petition to discover, Morrison says that on Jan. 19 she fell and broke her hip while shopping at Sam's Club.

She is seeking to unearth photographs or surveillance video coverage that might have captured the incident, court papers say.

Morrison also hopes to obtain records detailing the incident and statements from witnesses.

"The information requested is necessary in order to investigate the existence of third-party causes of action," the petition states.

Beaumont attorney Trenton Bond of Portner & Bond represents her.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
