Woman sues Leduc Management for fall down stairs

Area resident Deborah Wells has filed suit against Leduc Management, claiming the company kept a stair railing, which gave away and caused her to fall, in poor shape.

The suit was filed March 11 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on March 26, 2010, Wells was at Leduc's premises at 4910 Highland Ave. in Beaumont when she fell and injured herself.

"The railing leading to the apartment was so unstable that if failed to support her when she stumbled on the stairs, causing her to fall and severely injure her knee," the suit states.

The suit alleges Leduc negligently failed to provide warnings of the unsafe rail and also failed to inspect and maintain its premises.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Trenton Bond of Portner Bond represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
