Groves resident Scott LaCroix has filed suit against Farmers Services Insurance Agency, alleging the company refuses to pay underinsured motorist benefits for an October 2008 automobile collision.
The suit was filed March 17 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to his petition, on Oct. 8, 2008, LaCroix was injured when an underinsured motorist disregarded a flashing red light at the intersection of Highway 366 and Hogaboom Road and struck him.
Following the incident, LaCroix submitted a claim for underinsured motorist benefits, the suit states.
The suit continues by alleging Farmers "has failed and refused to pay plaintiff full benefits under this policy in accordance with its contractual obligations."
LaCroix is suing for punitive and exemplary damages.
Beaumont attorney Timothy Ferguson represents him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
