Galveston County resident Tammy Fincher is suing Nederland local Janis Bounds, who allegedly collided head on with her vehicle after swerving into oncoming traffic.
The suit was filed March 17 in Jefferson County District Court.
Court records show that on July 10 Fincher was traveling westbound on FM 365 when Bounds, who was in driving in the eastbound lane, veered into her lane and collided with her vehicle.
The Port Arthur Police reported that Bounds fell asleep at the wheel, the suit states. Fincher claims she honked her horn at Bounds.
Bounds was issued a citation for "failing to maintain a single lane."
The suit also alleges she negligently failed to apply her brakes and control her speed.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney Randall Sorrels represents her.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
