Citibank seeks $15,000 from Beaumont man over credit card debt

A bank has filed suit against the Beaumont man it claims failed to repay more than $15,000 in credit card debt.

Citibank claims defendant Leroy R. Purdy racked up credit card debt of $16,537.05, but has refused to repay it.

Citibank sent Purdy a letter demanding repayment, but he has refused to do so, according to the complaint filed March 21 in Jefferson County District Court.

Citibank alleges breach of contract against Purdy.

In addition to the money it says it is owed, Citibank is seeking attorney's fees, costs, post-judgment interest at the maximum rate allowed by law and other relief the court deems just.

Michael J. Scott, Teri Stewart Mace, Judith Morgan, T.L. Elder and Jessica Eckstein of Michael J. Scott in Carrollton will be representing it.

The case has been assigned to Judge Gary Sanderson, 60th District Court.

Case No. B189-630
