Suit alleges motorist failed to yield right of way

Port Arthur resident Walter Fields is suing Groves local Edgar LaBleu, who allegedly turned into a private residence without yielding the right of way and struck Fields' vehicle.

The suit was filed April 28 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on May 2, 2009, Fields was traveling on Highway 347 when LaBleu allegedly "failed to yield the right of way when making a left turn into a private drive, slamming into the plaintiff."

The suit accuses LaBleu of failing to keep a proper lookout, apply his brakes in a timely manner and obey traffic laws.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
