A Houston woman claims she suffered from cervical neck pain, bilateral shoulder pain and thoracic back pain after a driver failed to control his speed and struck her vehicle.
Symanthia McPherson filed a lawsuit June 9 in Jefferson County District Court against Jaquari Marquis Barnes.
In her complaint, McPherson claims she drove north on Ninth Avenue in Port Arthur on June 25, 2009, when Barnes failed to control his speed and struck her.
In addition to her injuries, McPherson incurred medical costs and experienced physical pain, suffering and mental anguish because of the collision, according to her complaint.
McPherson blames Barnes for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to avoid the collision.
In her complaint, McPherson seeks a judgment in excess of the minimum jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the highest legal rate, actual damages and other relief the court deems just.
Ryan Douglas White of Loncar and Associates in Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
