Family sues motorist for causing collision

A family of four has filed suit against a Beaumont man for allegedly causing an automobile collision in December 2009.

Arnold Adams and Lakista Davis, along with two minors, filed suit against Henry Cortez on June 22 in Jefferson County District Court.

Court records show that on Dec. 17, 2009, Adams and the other plaintiffs were traveling west on Cardinal Drive when Cortez "failed to control his speed and struck plaintiffs' vehicle."

The plaintiffs also claim Cortez negligently failed to keep a proper lookout.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

The plaintiffs are represented by Beaumont attorney David LaRue of Loncar & Associates.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
