Groves residents in litigation over rear-end impact

Michael Wise has filed suit against fellow Groves resident Blake Austin, alleging Austin rear-ended his vehicle nearly two years ago.

The suit was filed July 7 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 1, 2009, Wise was traveling on Monroe Avenue in Groves when Austin allegedly failed to control his speed and struck him from the rear.

The suit also accuses Austin of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout and control his rate of speed.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Lance P. Bradley of McPherson, Hughes, Bradley, Wimberley, Steele and Chatelain in Port Arthur represents him.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.

Case No. A190-471
