Suit filed on behalf of 5 kids injured in wreck

Three Jefferson County mothers have filed suit against a driver who they claim injured their five children during a collision.

Alicia Barragan, Luz Becerra and Luz Maria Venegas claim their minor children -- Marlene and Kayly Barragan, Michelle and Juliette Becerra and Erik Venegas -- were injured in a collision with defendant Tasheem Kausar Khuhro. The plaintiffs do not state how the collision occurred, but do say it happened at the intersection of Jimmy Johnson Boulevard and Brazos Street in Port Arthur on Aug. 28, 2010.

In addition to the minors' injuries, they experienced physical pain, mental anguish and physical impairment, according to the complaint filed July 5 in Jefferson County District Court.

The plaintiffs are seeking a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

John A. Carwile of The Law Offices of John A. Carwile in Houston will be representing them.
