Port Arthur wreck results in litigation

A Groves woman claims she and her minor child suffered severe physical pain after a driver crashed into their vehicle.

Selinda Black filed a lawsuit individually and on behalf of minor Cheyenne McNeil against Lydia Johnson Robertson.

In her complaint, Black claims she and McNeil travelled east on FM 365 in Port Arthur on May 11, 2010, when suddenly Robertson failed to yield the right-of-way and struck Black's vehicle.

Because of the collision, Black incurred medical costs and experienced extreme physical pain, suffering, mental anguish, disfigurement and physical impairment, according to the complaint.

Robertson negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to yield the right-of-way and drove inattentively, the suit states.

In her complaint, Black seeks an unspecified judgment, plus interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.

James E. Payne and Ronnie Turner Sr. of Provost and Umphrey Law Firm in Beaumont will be representing her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
