Trucker sued for running stop sign, causing collision

Area residents Allen and Gwendolyn Grant have filed suit against the Ramco Group and one of its truck drivers, Charles Stewart, who allegedly struck their vehicle last December.

The suit was filed July 25 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Dec. 9, 2010, the plaintiffs were stopped at a stop sign when Stewart, while in the course and scope of his employment with Ramco, disregarded the stop sign and struck their vehicle.

The Grants claim they injured their neck and backs in the collision.

They negligently fault Stewart for disobeying traffic laws and also blame Ramco for negligently hiring him.

The plaintiffs are suing for their alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas them.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
