Contractor sued for installing 'non-conforming' flooring

Southeast Texas resident Linda Cook has filed suit against Jay and George Ramirez, owners of Ramirez Carpet & Tile, for installing "non-conforming" flooring.

The suit was filed Aug. 9 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, sometime in August 2009 Cook hired the Ramirezes to install laminate flooring in her Beaumont home.

"The work performed by the defendants is substandard and non-conforming," the suit states, adding that the defendants refused to correct the flooring.

The plaintiff alleges the defendants breached their contract and is suing to recover actual and consequential damages, plus attorney's fees.

She is represented by Beaumont attorney Tom Kiehnhoff of the Reaud, Morgan & Quinn law firm.

Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
