State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance recently settled a case alleging it refused to pay underinsured motorist benefits.
As previously reported, Evette Jackson filed suit against State Farm and agent Neil Langford on Feb. 18 in Jefferson County District Court
On July 7 Jackson filed a motion for judgment of dismissal, stating that her claims with the defendants have been settled, court records show.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, granted the motion on July 17, dismissing the defendants with prejudice.
According to the lawsuit, on March 12, 2009, Jackson was traveling north on Highway 87 when an unknown, uninsured driver ran a stop sign and slammed into her vehicle.
Afterward, she made a claim to State Farm for underinsured motorist benefits, which was handled by agent Langford.
Jackson alleged the defendants refused to pay at least a portion of her policy claim, breaching their contract and violating the Texas Insurance Code.
