Orange resident Lloyd McBryde, who was laid off by Monument Constructors in May, has filed suit against his former employer, alleging the company owes him back pay.
The suit was filed Aug. 12 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, McBryde and Monument entered into an employment agreement in August 2009.
On May 25 he was laid off.
"Defendant, however, failed to pay plaintiff for the outstanding amounts due and owing to him under the agreement," the suit states.
The suit accuses Monument of breach of contract and fraud.
McBryde is suing for actual damages and attorney's fees.
Attorney Jessica Hallmark of Dunha Hallmark in Beaumont represents him.
Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, has been assigned to the case.
