Two years ago, Beaumont local Leroy Hubbard was out riding his bicycle when Kirbyville resident James Woods allegedly struck him with his car.
Seeking more then $50,000 in damages, Hubbard filed suit against Woods on Aug. 17 in Jefferson County District Court.
According to the lawsuit, on Sept. 3, 2009, Hubbard was out riding his bike and approaching the intersection at North Street and First Street.
In his suit, Hubbard claims he made sure the intersection was clear before he proceeded through but Woods allegedly failed to yield the right of way at the intersection and struck him.
The suit further accuses Woods of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout.
The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents him.
Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, has been assigned to the case.
