A Sabine County woman alleges she sustained elbow and head injuries after a driver drove straight in a turn-only lane, striking her vehicle.
Brittany White filed a lawsuit Oct. 12 in Jefferson County District Court against Ron Dismukes and John Doe.
In her complaint, White alleges she was driving on the access road to Interstate 10 at its intersection with Calder Avenue in Beaumont on Oct. 14, 2009, when Dismukes's nephew, identified only as John Doe, caused the collision.
Doe was driving Dismukes's vehicle in the left-hand turn lane, but instead traveled straight and collided with White's vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to her injuries, White suffered physical pain, incurred medical costs and sustained impairment, the suit states. She also lost wages, the complaint says.
White blames Doe for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to make a proper turn and failed to yield the right-of-way.
She also names Dismukes for causing the collision, saying he should never have entrusted his vehicle to a negligent driver.
White seeks an unspecified judgment, plus attorney's fees, costs, pre- and post-judgment interest at the legal rate and other relief the court deems just.
