Suit alleges woman crashed vehicle into home

Port Arthur resident Sonia Vanegas is suing the woman who crashed a car into her home and her insurance providers.

Vanegas filed her suit against Maria Sandoval, Fire Insurance Exchange and Farmers Insurance Group on Nov. 1 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on Nov. 4, 2009, Sandoval crashed her vehicle into Vanegas' home, prompting her to make a claim to the defendant insurance companies.

However, the suit alleges the insurance companies failed to comply with the terms of the contract issued to her.

Vanegas is accusing the insurance companies of deceptive acts, violating the Texas Insurance Code and breach of warranty.

The plaintiff is suing for punitive and exemplary damages.

Beaumont attorney Jonathan Juhan represents her.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.

Case No. B191-287
