Women in litigation over wreck

A woman claims she experienced severe neck, back, shoulder and elbow pain after a driver rear-ended her vehicle.

Rhonda Hall filed a lawsuit Nov. 10 in Jefferson County District Court against Cynthia Melancon.

In her complaint, Hall alleges she stopped for oncoming traffic while she was driving in Beaumont on Dec. 23, 2009, when defendant Melancon struck the rear of her vehicle.

In addition to her pain, Hall incurred medical costs, lost earnings and her earning capacity and experienced physical impairment, physical pain and mental anguish, according to the complaint.

Hall blames Melancon for causing the collision, saying she negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply her brakes and failed to control the speed of her vehicle.

In her complaint, Hall seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.

Jonathan C. Juhan and J.J. Bragg of Beuamont will be representing her.

Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
