A Port Arthur man claims he incurred medical costs after a driver struck his vehicle when he slowed for traffic.
Kadeem Livingston filed a lawsuit Nov. 28 in Jefferson County District Court against Erik Anotnio Burgos.
In his complaint, Livingston claims he drove west in the 3700 block of 32nd Street when he slowed for traffic. Suddenly, Burgos failed to control his speed and struck Livingston's vehicle, according to the complaint.
In addition to his medical costs, Livingston experienced physical pain, suffering and physical impairment because of the collision, the suit states.
Livingston blames Burgos for causing the collision, saying he failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to keep a proper lookout and drove too fast, the complaint says.
In his complaint, Livingston seeks a judgment within the jurisdictional limits of Jefferson County District Court, plus pre-judgment interest at the maximum rate, post-judgment interest at the legal rate, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Travis McCall of McCall and McCall in Beaumont will be representing him.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
