A woman claims she sustained injuries to her neck, left shoulder and left knee after a driver failed to control his speed and struck her vehicle.
Mary Jones filed a lawsuit Nov. 30 in Jefferson County District Court against Jonathan Z. Wells.
In her complaint, Jones alleges she drove at the intersection of Lucas Drive and Phelan Boulevard in Beaumont on Jan. 21, 2010, when Wells failed to remain in a single lane and struck her vehicle.
In addition to her injuries, Jones incurred medical costs, lost her earnings and her earning capacity and sustained physical impairment, physical pain, mental anguish and disfigurement because of the collision, according to the complaint.
She blames Wells for causing the collision, saying he negligently failed to keep a proper lookout, failed to timely apply his brakes and failed to drive in a single lane.
In the complaint, Jones seeks an unspecified judgment, plus pre-judgment interest, costs and other relief the court deems just.
Jonathan C. Juhan and J.J. Braggs of Beaumont will be representing her.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, has been assigned to the case.
