A September trial has been slated in a lawsuit against a Beaumont physician, who allegedly botched a minor's penile surgery.
As previously reported, Suzanne and Bobby Perry, on behalf of their son, filed suit against Dr. Manuel Maria-Soosai and the Pediatrics Urology Association on July 27 in Jefferson County District Court.
An agreed docket control order was filed in the case on Sept. 14, calling for all discovery to be finished by Aug. 2 and placing the case on the court's September trial docket.
Court records show that the Perrys began to notice the boy was having difficulty urinating in early 2010. After a medical examination, the child was referred to Maria-Soosai, who diagnosed him with a right undescended testicle and narrowing of the opening of the urethra.
The Perrys allege that on Feb. 1, 2010, Maria-Soosai fell below the standard of care while operating on Eli by failing to properly suture the resected area and placing an improperly sized catheter.
Eli had to be admitted to Texas Children's Hospital in Houston to repair the damage, the suit states.
The plaintiffs allege Maria-Soosai negligently fell below the standard of care and are seeking punitive and exemplary damages.

The defendants are represented by Houston attorney Matthew Hughes of Boston & Hughes.
Judge Bob Wortham, 58th District Court, is assigned to the case.
