Having exhausted all of his administrative remedies, area resident Albert LeBlanc has filed a worker's compensation suit against his employer, the Port of Houston Authority.
The petition was filed Jan. 9 in Jefferson County District Court, even though LeBlanc's employer is located within Harris County.
In his petition, LeBlanc says he suffered a herniated disc at work on Oct. 29, 2010, prompting him to file a worker's compensation claim.
On Dec. 29, more than a year later, the Appeals Panel of the Texas Department of Insurance, Worker's Compensation Division, cut off his benefits.
LeBlanc contends the panel's findings were in error.
He is asking the court to set aside the ruling and find in his favor.
Beaumont attorney Clay Dugas represents him.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
