Wreck in League City leads to lawsuit

GALVESTON - A Waco man claims to have been involved in a two-vehicle accident in his city last year with a League City local, recent court documents say.

Richard Plowman's lawsuit against Keith Ryder alleges Ryder ran a red right and t-boned the plaintiff on Jan. 6, 2010.

Court papers were filed Jan. 6 in Galveston County District Court.

Plowman explains that he was traveling westbound on Waco Drive and approached the Livingston Avenue intersection where he reportedly had the right of way when Ryder, who drove southbound on Highway 6, came upon the same intersection as him with the traffic control signal on red.

"Suddenly and without warning, [the] defendant Ryder negligently failed to stop for the red light and struck Mr. Plowman's vehicle on the driver's side causing Mr. Plowman to suffer bodily harm and totaling his vehicle," the suit says.

Plowman adds he suffered severe bodily injuries, including but not limited to those to the right side of his body, his lower back, neck, knee, elbow, shoulder and head.

He was immediately rushed to a nearby hospital after the collision in question.

The plaintiff is required to undergo surgery to his shoulder, the suit says.

Consequently, he seeks unspecified monetary damages.

Plowman is represented by The Corea Trial Group LLC.

The case has been assigned to Galveston County 405th District Court Judge Wayne Mallia.
