By David Yates | Feb 29, 2012

Beaumont local Mary Cane has filed suit against Groves resident Shirley Duhan, alleging the defendant turned left from the center lane and caused an automobile collision.

The suit was filed Feb. 23 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on March 19, 2010, Cane was traveling north on Pennsylvania Avenue in Beaumont when Duhon attempted to make a left hand turn from the center lane and struck her.

In her suit, Cane says she now suffers pain in her lower back, neck and legs.

The suit accuses the defendant of negligently failing to keep a proper lookout, turn safely and yield the right of way.

The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Beaumont attorney Ryan White of Loncar & Associates represents her.

Judge Donald Floyd, 172nd District Court, is assigned to the case.
