Area resident Corniece Young has filed a slip and fall lawsuit against Wal-Mart Stores for injuries she received two years ago.
The suit was filed March 12 in Jefferson County District Court and also names Marguerite Collins, a Wal-Mart manager, as a defendant.
According to the lawsuit, on March 12, 2010, Young was shopping at the Port Arthur Wal-Mart when she slipped on a slippery substance.
In her suit, Young accuses the defendants of failing to inspect and maintain the premises and warn shoppers of the hazardous condition.
The plaintiff is suing for her alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment, disfigurement and lost wages, plus all court costs.
Houston attorney James Lassiter III represents her.
Judge Milton Shuffield, 136th District Court, is assigned to the case.
