Cafe Del Rio sued after customer ingests metal object

Orange resident Shawn Dickerson claims he swallowed a metal object while dining at Cafe Del Rio.

Alleging the object caused him injury, Dickerson filed suit against the restaurant's owners, Great Texas Foods Corp., on April 18 in Jefferson County District Court.

According to the lawsuit, on June 3 Dickerson was dining at Cafe Del Rio when ingested a metal object while eating his meal.

The suit does not describe the size or nature of the alleged metal object.

Dickerson claims the restaurant was negligent in its food preparation and owed him a duty to prepare food in a safe and sanitary environment.

The plaintiff is suing for his alleged past and future medical expenses, mental anguish, pain, impairment and lost wages, plus all court costs.

Attorney Tom Oxford of the Beaumont law firm Waldman Smallwood represents him.

Judge Gary Sanderson, 6oth District Court, is assigned to the case.
